22 films to compete for Fajr’s Iran Cinema awards

Contestants for 37th Fajr Film Festival’s Iranian Cinema awards announced.

In a press conference today, the administrative commission of the Fajr Film Festival has announced the names of the 22 films that will be competing in the Iranian Cinema awards section of the festival’s 37th annual event.

The films are as follows:

  1. ‘The Unrest’ by Fereydoun Jeyrani
  2. ‘Original Idea’ by Azita Mogoyi
  3. ‘African Violet’ by Mona Zandi
  4. ’23 People’ by Mehdi Jafari
  5. ‘Camel Coat’ by Mehdi Ali-Mirzaei
  6. ‘Blade and Cashmere’ by Kioumars Pourahmad
  7. ‘Jamshidieh’ by Yalda Jebelli
  8. ‘Darkhongah’ by Siavash As’adi
  9. ‘My Second Year of College’ by Rasoul Sadrameli
  10. ‘The Warden’ by Nima Javidi
  11. ‘Symphony No. 9’ by Mohammad-Reza Honarmand
  12. ‘Night of the Full Moon’ by Narges Abyar
  13. ‘Gold’ by Parviz Shahbazi
  14. ‘Takhti, the World Champion’ by Bahram Tavakkoli
  15. ‘Oath’ by Mohsen Tanabandeh
  16. ‘Qasre Shirin’ by Reza Mirkarimi
  17. 'Midday Event: Blood Trap' by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian
  18. ‘6.5 per Meter’ by Saeed Roostaei
  19. ‘Man Without a Shadow’ by Alireza Raeesian
  20. ‘Buffoon’ by Homayoun Ghanizadeh
  21. ‘Suddenly Tree’ by Peyman Moaadi
  22. ‘Blood of God’ Ali Abbas Mirzaei

Also present at the press conference was special guest, Jamshid Mashayekhi, an award-winning actor and cinema veteran who took part in the unveiling of the poster for the festival’s 37th annual event.

Founded in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival is an annual event held on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, celebrating Iranian cinema.

Over the years, the event has played a key role in the development of the Iranian film industry.

This year’s festival will be held from January 30-February 11, 2019 commemorating the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
